Tradition points to one so called St. Valentine, but in fact there were three. Besides three different “saints” there are many tales, stories, explanations and traditions, each supposedly explaining the roots of our modern celebration of love. Of course, this was definitely a good direction for Hallmark to take and the florists and candy makers have not been harmed by it either. At any rate, and for whatever it is worth, HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!
NOW FOR SOME GOOD NEWS!
Our Pastoral Search Team has been diligently at work for several months, and it has been quite obvious that God has been at work also, in what can be nearly described as “miraculous” ways. If not miraculous, at least we would have to say marvelous ways.
They have corresponded and met personally with a potential pastor several times. They have interviewed, questioned and queried him, listened to sermons, followed up with an extensive list of references and have, by unanimous and joyous declaration, recommended him to our Church Board as a candidate. Following up on that, he has agreed to be a candidate for the position and in fact, is excited for the opportunity!
Having said this, I would like to suggest two things.
If you are not officially on our church membership rolls I would encourage you to come to a new member orientation immediately following the morning service on February 11. This is a requirement for membership but attendance does not require you to join. Lunch will be provided. If you decide to join, there will be a vote for new members on February 18.
Please consider becoming a member so you can attend, have a voice in and vote on the new Pastor following the service on February 18. Our By-laws require membership in order to vote, and we want everyone to be able to participate in this important next step for the Journey Church.
I LOVE being the Pastor of the Journey church!
