celebrate!

The Journey Church has much to celebrate these days. First, on February 18th we welcomed ten new members. It’s always a joy and pleasure to have new folks attend but it’s even more exciting when they decide to stick around. Some of these dear folk have attended for some time and others are relatively new, but as your Pastor I am personally ecstatic and thankful to our Lord for each one. I should add, they all have jumped in and helped in myriads of ways since first coming. As we welcomed them with a right hand of fellowship I recalled hearing in Bible School, “We count people because people count,” and these friends count!

A second celebration surrounds the calling of a new Pastor, Randy Ehle whose formal ministry begins here April 9.

When I began here, a little over three years ago, my purpose was to see this fellowship healed from past hurts and to see it gain the spiritual and financial strength to take on and positively support a full time Pastor. I think that was impossible in 2015, BUT NOT NOW! Our 100% vote certainly reflected our confidence in Pastor Randy, but please understand, I think it also reflected confidence in our search team, your Church Board and yes, even me as pastor. This is not the end but a new beginning, and Randy will need full support personally and financially in order to “make it happen”.

As to my own feelings about all this, I am extremely happy to have fulfilled my purposes here at the Journey church. Concerning my own role here, I have no regrets, and feel I’ve kept the promises I made so long ago. Yet, I’m sorry to see this time close. I’ve truly loved being the Journey's  pastor, and there is no greater privilege given to man than to proclaim God’s truth week after week. My closing message will be April 8.

Another celebration awaits us on April 1. On Easter Sunday we will meet together at 9:00 a.m. for our third annual “COME TO THE CROSS” celebration. This will be a 30 minute service of message and song followed by a brunch at 9:30 and then our regular service at 10:30. Let’s face it folks, without Easter all the rest would be empty and without purpose. But, “...Christ died according to the scriptures. He was buried, and He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1st John 4:10 NIV
