It was in November 2014 when Pastor Fred Delano asked if I could step in as interim pastor of the Journey “for a few months.” I would not have dreamed, nor would anyone, that nearly three years later I would still be the Pastor of the Journey, but here we are, and it’s been a fun ride.
While there is always room for additional growth and change, it’s been amazing to see what God continues to do at the Journey. The spirit of unity and cooperation is tremendous and I have often said, “We may be small but we are mighty.” A highlight of Jesus’ prayer just before His arrest and crucifixion was for a unity among believers, and we have it! Love for the Lord AND love for one another shines like a night beacon and every visitor speaks of what a warm and welcoming place this is. GOOD WORK!” That’s probably a large part of why we have welcomed several new families into our midst.
It’s also been marvelous to see how the Lord has provided financially. In 2016 we raised $7,000 to replace the flat roof over the offices, main entrance and kitchen areas. It was desperately needed since it was already leaking. In 2017 we were able to replace the main roof over the worship center and that at a cost of over $9,000. Very soon we will replace the roofs over the storage and maintenance buildings as well. God is so good.
And now we must also celebrate how God has provided sufficiently for us to begin the search for a full time Pastor. It has been my joy to do what I’ve done, but The Journey NEEDS a leader who can be here full time and who has the energy to do all that is needed to lead us into the next phase of growth. I’m thankful to be part of the team involved in that search because I want the very best for this church.
I am greatly thankful for all the help and support over these nearly three years and for all those who have been our friends. I can truly say, “I LOVE BEING THE PASTOR OF THE JOURNEY CHURCH.”
We would love to have you as our guest at one of the most loving and caring churches you'd ever want to visit!
