Thanks to everyone who made the summer picnics such a success. It was a pleasure spending time with our church family but it didn’t hurt escaping some of the heat either. Twain Harte was always about 10 degrees cooler than Sonora and that was welcome relief. The food and fellowship were wonderful and these are always good times to catch up with what is going on in people’s lives.
More recently our women enjoyed a retreat utilizing the Wagner’s home. Thanks Bev for hosting that, and Dennis, you no doubt played a big part in preparing everything, not to mention vacating your place for several days.
Now we enter the fall season and with it plan to resume the adult class on October 1. The Pathfinder Class will first utilize a seven week video series filmed in the Holy Land. Please plan on meeting at 9:00 a.m.
As you recall I originally was asked to serve as Interim until May or June of 2015. In March of that year you called me to be Pastor and here we are two and a half years later. It’s been a pleasure serving at the Journey, but the focus has always been to eventually find a full time Pastor. We now have a Pastoral Search Team in place making it even more important to actively support the Pastoral Search Fund. As you observe the “Game Board” in the lobby you might note that as of the end of September we moved forward two squares, thus rounding the final corner and putting us on the home stretch with ONLY FOUR SQUARES TO GO!
Let’s break this down into bite size pieces. With an average attendance of 40, an additional contribution of $20 a month, per person, would put us over the top by the end of 2018. Friends, it can be done, but it takes all of us working together. I must say it’s been exciting to see how God has provided thus far and I’m excited to see what God is going to accomplish during this next season in the life of our church.
I love being pastor of the Journey church!
